How To Submit Your 2013 New Years Contest Entry

Calling All Contest Finishers

Almost exactly two months ago we launched the New Years Contest To End All New Years Contests.

If you don’t quite remember it, the gist is that EVERYONE wants to use the New Year to start getting in better shape. I wanted to help people actually DO that. So I decided to bribe you.

More and more I’m realizing that my real goal is to remove any and all excuses you have from working out and/or doing the things you really want to do be doing. If that requires bribery, than so be it. So I bit the bullet, and launched a contest featuring a slew of ridiculous prizes.

And…the response has been incredible. Hundreds of people began Impossible Abs and thousands (yes, thousands with a T), picked up the No Excuses Workout. Not only that, but halfway through the course, I sent out an email just checking on people and surprisingly people were sticking with it (unfortunately many fitness programs have an incredible fall-off rate of people picking up and stopping as soon as it gets hard. Case in point: is your gym empty yet? Surprisingly, we’ve seen an incredible amount of people sticking with the program – which is about the best thing a program creator can hear :) .)

But, now the 8 week challenge is over. It’s time to share your story (if you stuck it all out).

How To Get In On It

Submit Your Story

First up, submit your story here

http://impossiblehq.com/story

We’ll be considering entries for the next 7 days – until March 10th, 2013 at Midnight EST). After that, you can still submit your story, but it won’t be eligible for these prizes (although I’d still love to hear them). Please note: for the sake of our sanity & keeping track of everything, we’re only considering entries that are submitted through the above link.

Tips on Submitting Your Entry

I’m expecting a flood of submissions. I’m going to read every single one, but if you want, here’s how you can stand out from the crowd.

Your Physical Changes

How did you change physically? Did the program actually work? Remember, details are good and photos are great. If you have numbers as far as weights/measurements, etc – even better. Also, if you’ve noticed energy level changes or other physical-related changes or improvements, this is where you let me know.

Beyond The Physical

One of the reasons I focus on physical challenges is because I believe they have the greatest ability to help shape, impact and change people in a real, undeniably, visceral way. If the 8 week challenge has been challenging you beyond just the fitness component, be sure to let me know.

What’s Next?

8 weeks is a good start, but the contest isn’t the end – it’s just the beginning. What’s next for you and your story? What are you going to be relentlessly pursuing from here forward? How has Impossible Abs helped you forward in that respect?

The Ripple Effect

Who’s going to be different because you’re different? How are you going to pass it along?

Details & honesty are more important than creativity or clever phrases. Results of course, speak the loudest of all.

Thank You

Again, to everyone who participated in the contest – I want to say thanks – not only for taking me up on this challenge – but for putting action to the words that people so easily toss around.

Remember, you have the next 7 days to submit your story here.

Impossible Abs Is Here!

Impossible Abs

I’m not going to lie, I’m pretty excited today.

After 6 months of planning, testing, programming, some more testing, a ton of work and even more anticipation, it’s finally here.

As promised, Impossible Abs is now live. This project will help you burn fat, kill your excuses and get six pack abs through a zero-excuses 8-week fitness program designed to work anywhere in the world without fancy equipment or an expensive gym membership.

You can read more or pick up your own copy here (There’s a special bonus only for those who pick up the program within the first week!)

***

After designing the program around my six pack transformation, we ran Impossible Abs through some beta testers over the last few months. It’s still early, but in a few short months, we’ve seen some incredible results already:

  • Justin lost 30 pounds in 2 months
  • Michael lost 22 pounds in 3 weeks
  • Abigail lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks.

Here’s all the legal mumbo jumbo about results not being typical, etc (yadda yadda yadda), but I’ve found that each person who committed to the program and stuck with it, saw results.

3 Main Options

In order to make this available to as many people as possible, we’ve created three different versions of the guide in order to serve those with different goals, needs and budgets. The middle CHALLENGE version is my personal favorite (surprise), but make your own decision. We have a basic training program for the do-it-yourselfers out there and a  personalized coaching option for people who want one-on-one attention throughout the challenge. There’s also an experience option which is available on  a very limited basis to challenge & coaching members by application only due to it’s expense and complexity.

Usually, this is where most people will say it’s available for the next 10 minutes only and if you click off the page, you’ll get 20 banners asking you to stay.

There’s no artificial timer and no pop-up windows if you try to leave, but if you pick up the program in the first week, you’ll be invited to a special webinar where you can ask Vic and myself any question you like.

Like everything I do, there’s a 100% satisfaction guaranteed with Impossible Abs. If you’re not happy with your results, just let me know and I’ll send you a prompt refund.

On top of all that, we’ll be allocating a portion of all revenue will go towards building our #Impossible school charity project with Pencils of Promise.

If you want to burn fat, kill your excuses and get six pack abs, you don’t need an expensive gym membership or any fancy equipment. We’ve designed this program to be done anywhere in the world. The only thing holding you back, is whether you want to do it or not.

There are no more excuses.

It’s not easy, but it’s worth it

If you want Impossible Abs,  you can get it here.

Go do something impossible.

All About Impossible Abs

Impossible Abs

Whew! In the last week, I’ve moved and settled into my apartment downtown Chicago, finalized Impossible Abs and . I’m really excited to make this available to you guys.

Yesterday, we answered a bunch of questions about the program and tomorrow is launch day (9am EST sharp!), so today, I’m going to clear up any remaining questions about the program.

Impossible Abs: What It’s About

When I set out to knock “get six pack abs and do a photo shoot to celebrate” off the Impossible List, I was in the Dominican Republic and had no access to a gym. But, I had already put money down for my photo shoot 8 weeks later, so I realized I had to figure out a workout that I could do anywhere in the world, regardless of gym access or fancy equipment. So that’s exactly what I did – and it worked – spectacularly. Over the next 8 weeks, I lost 34 pounds and dropped to 5.4% body fat and finally got six pack abs. Once I shared my story, I received an onslaught of questions about what program I followed to do it.

Impossible Abs is That Program.

A lot of trainers, programs and websites will promise you “1 easy trick” or some “magic exercise” to lose weight and get ripped.

I won’t.

Impossible Abs is a no secrets, no excuses, no B.S. program.

And so, I’m going to do something a little different than most people would do. I’m not going to sit here and promise you that it will be easy – ’cause it won’t be.

I’ll promise you that it will be hard, but it will be worth it.

What’s Inside

Impossible Abs is the most comprehensive resource I’ve put together to date and the results people have been getting are really incredible.

In addition to the Nutrition and Workout Blueprints that show you exactly what to eat and what workouts to do over 8 weeks, you’ll get access to a growing library of over 25+ video tutorials of workouts and exercises in the program. We also give you nutrition, workout and weigh-in logs to track your progress throughout the program.

In the higher-end challenge version, we provide daily emails (56 total and counting) through the 8-week challenge where finishers get a special edition impossible shirt only for challenge finishers (it will never be for sale, you have to EARN it). We take you behind the scenes and show you how to hack the photo shoot to get that “extra lean” look for your photos as well as do exclusive interviews with expert fat loss coaches and fitness model

I also detail out my personal experience as a case study where I include weekly weigh-ins, photographs, workout repetitions and as well as every single thing I ate during the program. I really put back the curtain and even include some personal emails detailing my thought process throughout my transformation – even when things got really rough.

There’s also a personalized one-on-one coaching program level, if you’re interested in that.

A lot of people were curious about what the pricing will be. The average gym membership is between $25-$50 per month and most personal trainers charge anywhere from $60-$120 per hour and I’m very happy that the basic version of Impossible Abs will cost less than a single personal training session in order to allow as many people access to the program as possible. As I mentioned before there are two other tiers for those who want to take the challenge to the next level.

There’s no artificial time or quantity limit on this program, but there will be a special webinar bonus  for those that buy it within the first week, where you can ask Vic and myself anything you like.

I tested this program on myself first and saw amazing results first-hand. We’ve seen some incredible results from the early beta testers and we’ll be sharing those stories throughout the next few weeks. The program simply works and I’m excited to share it with you because I know it can help get you in amazing shape.

There are no more excuses.

And, as always, if you’re already ripped to shreds or simply just not interested, there’s certainly no pressure to purchase it at all. Thanks for reading :) .

****

I’m pretty sure that’s it. Check back tomorrow  at 9am EST when it all goes live!

Impossible Ones: A Brand New Impossible Thing (or Two) And How You Can Help

In case you haven’t noticed, we’ve got a lot of things in the works around Impossible HQ and the blog lately. We’re releasing a fitness program in a few weeks, and over the weekend we  murdered our servers from last week’s post (thanks to Jeff for un-murdering them), but that’s not all. Today we’re announcing 2 new impossible things: you ready? This is going to be fun.

The BackStory

A key thread throughout everything we do here an HQ is focused on giving and service. There’s a couple reasons for this, but the main one is that at some point through your own journey, you come to the realization that you’ve gotten a free lunch or two throughout life and you haven’t done it all on your own. Whether it’s being born in the right country, or having a family, teacher or boss that backed you up at a key moment- there was something at some point that set you off that wasn’t your doing.

Somewhere along the lines you had help.

And while, doing the impossible is tough – and you have to want it bad sometimes – if you pick your head up for a few seconds and look around every now and then, you start to realize how much you’ve been able to accomplish, how many abilities and opportunities you do have.

When you start to realize the abundance of these things, 2 things usually happen:

  1. You realize how many possibilities you have. You realize how good you have it, and no matter how hard you think things are, you’re aware of how many possibilities you DO Have, how precious they are and foolish it is to waste them.
  2. You want to create possibilities for others. At some point, someone opened a door for you, dropped a key and showed you that somethings was possible. When you realize that, you start looking for your own ways to create possibilities, to effect change and drop some more keys for others.
We spend a lot of time talking about creating more possibilities in our own lives, but over the next few months, we’re going to have a chance to create some possibility in the lives of others through a very unique opportunity.

======

The Opportunity

A few months ago, an organization called Pencils of Promise called me up. As the blog has grown, I’ve gotten approached by a ton of businesses trying to do “deals.” A lot of of organizations, businesses, and entrepreneurs that want to do JVs/partnerships/affiliate deals that take advantage of the Impossible brand and I simply won’t do it. I’ve turned down 100% of those opportunities until PoP called.

I talked to Rachele and Erin and they explained to me that 67 million children in the world live without access to education. Something we all take for granted and complain that it’s mandatory for 16 years is something not even available to millions of kids around the globe. They don’t get the option to choose to push their limits, live an adventure, because for them, it’s impossible for them to get something as simple as an education. Pencils of Promise wants to change that.

Pencils of Promise started when their founder Adam was backpacking through India and asked a small child who was begging, ”What do you want most in the world?”

“A Pencil”, the child answered.

So Adam reached into his bag, pulled out a pencil and gave the child one. He traveled and handed out more pencils, but that answer  stuck in the back of his mind. So he decided to do something more about it. Starting with $25 in 2008, and focused on giving my students the possibility of education, PoP has gone on to build over 50 schools in Laos, Nicaragua and Guatemala in conjunction with local communities by hiring local staff and required participation from the communities as they track each student’s success.

Once we checked out their history and read their 9 key founding principles, I thought to myself, ”Wow, these guys “get” it.”

PoP Founding Principles

Pencils of Promise’s FOUNDING PRINCIPLES

  1. If we don’t love what we do, then we are doing something wrong.
  2. We must profoundly understand local cultures before we can hope to improve their educational opportunities.
  3. Our most important partners are the communities themselves.
  4. We build more than just four walls: we foster lasting and sustainable education.
  5. Innovation, collaboration and creativity are at our core.
  6. We are dedicated to the long-term sustainability of each project we support.
  7. A nonprofit should operate with complete transparency and efficiency.
  8. All donors should have the opportunity to choose where their money goes.
  9. Every single contribution and contributor is a valuable part of the movement.
The emphasis in the paragraphs above are mine. There are lots of organizations that simply throw money at problems and hope they go away without actually understanding them, but partnering with a community and developing change inside-out is what drew me to PoP – their focus on sustainability throughout each project.

They “Get” It

The Challenge

There are 67 million children in the world without access to education. For them, going to school is impossible. Literally. PoP has built 50 schools over the past few years and over the next few months, they want to build 50 more – a goal that’s seemingly impossible (in fact, they’re calling it their “impossible ones” campaign – I told them I’d allow them to use the word ;) ).

Since doing the Impossible is kinda our thing, I thought to myself, “So what are we going to do about it?” How can we as a community contribute?

*Take Deep Breath Here*

We’re going to raise $25,000 as a community by the end of 2012 in order to build an IMPOSSIBLE school and provide the possibility of education to 1,000 students.

*Exhale*

First reaction: Woah! $25,000? That’s a ton of money!

Yes it is. So why $25,000?  $25,000 builds a school in Guatemala and provides the possibility of education to approximately 1,000 students.

It’s big, it’s scary and it’s just enough that we might not be able to do it.   But it’s not just about me (it never is). The “we” is where you come in.

====

The Community

In the League, we’ve got a group that’s donating to Kiva. Almost lent a little over $8,100 to entrepreneurs all over the globe (and counting), but as we’ve talked, we wanted to do something more. We wanted a community challenge – one that would have an effect that you could feel, touch, see and experience – and that we could all be in together.

Well, you wanted a challenge? We got a challenge. As a community our goal is $25,000 by the end of 2012 in order to build a school in Guatemala and provide access to education for 1,000 students.

If When, we hit that goal, we will celebrate enthusiastically, but the person who helps raise the most amount of money will come with me to Guatemala and actually help build the school that we’re fundraising for.

Yes, We’re going to actually help build the freaking school.
With our hands.
Raising money is one thing. It’s cool to “know” theoretically that you helped contribute to actually build a school and provide a entire community with education. It’s another thing entirely to actually go there, help out through the process and build the school with your own two hands while looking into the eyes of the people who’s lives you’re able to affect in a positive way. Doing stuff like this is what this blog and Impossible HQ are about - doing. We’ll actually go to Guatemala, help people push their own limits and do the impossible by providing a possibility for education, while living an adventure ourselves and giving back. That’s like a win-win-win situation. Triple boom.

=====

What I’m Doing

After I ran a marathon: 26.2 miles in my Vibrams, I never thought I’d do it again. One marathon. Checked off. Done. Boom. That was it….at least I thought so… But then I kept thinking….what if?

I kept coming across stuff from people like Dean Karnazes and David Goggins and these crazy, stupid, impossible ultra marathons kept staring me in the face – asking me to do more – all the while daring me to try.

Over the past two years I learned I’m not very good at turning down dares. I couldn’t let that challenge stare at me and dare me like that without knowing if I could actually do it.

So while walking around Portland a few weeks back, I put down my money, signed up and started training. I’m doing something crazy.

I’m running an ultra marathon in Chicago on October 27th.

There’s been a few things that have been tough, and then a few that have HURT – and a marathon hurt – but I’m going farther. I’m running the Chicago Ultramarathon – my first ultra marathon ever – and checking it off my list while raising money for our school. It’s going to be really, really hard,  and a little crazy, but it’s absolutely going to be worth it.

=====

5 Ways You Can Start Today

But this isn’t just about me. This is a community challenge and it starts today. There are a few obvious ways to start with this (see option #1), but we’re also arranging a few specific community events to raise money for this but lets take all this out of the hypotheticals out of this. Here are 5 concrete ways you can help uso lets take this all out of the hypothetical “shoulds” and
 start today.

  1. Donate here. It’s pretty simple. 1,000 people. $25 dollars/person. That’s all it takes. BOOM. Donate here.
  2. The cyclists and triathletes around the league have been bugging me for jerseys forever (you know who you are!) And, I’ve been listening! In fact, starting now, we’re doing a (a one-time only) pre-order for the next two weeks of a special run of impossible cycling jerseys. I’m not sure if we’ll ever do these again (design + production + orders + shipping for jerseys is way tougher than typical apparel!). But for the next few weeks, they’ll be available for pre-order. $10% of the revenue from the sale will go directly to POP. If you’re a triathlete or a cyclist, this is an incredible piece of apparel from Primal Cycling and help the fundraising effort (plus they look a little like superhero outfits (if I do say so myself)). Grab your Limited Edition Cycling Jersey Here.
    Impossible Cycling Jerseys
  3. In July, I did the GORUCK Challenge – one of the toughest things I’ve ever done in my life. After talking with GORUCK HQ, we’ve tentatively arranged a custom GORUCK IMPOSSIBLE Challenge in Chicago. If 30 people sign up for the class we’ll raise about 2,000 directly for POP, (plus GRC will send about $400 to Green Beret – just because they’re nice like that). We need at least 20 and won’t take more than 30 people for this. If you’re interested, sign up here.
  4. Create your own impossible challenge – not just something, you think you might be able to do. Pick something that scares you, that pushes your limits – that you might fail at. Then go do it, tell people about it and contribute to the Impossible School fund.
  5. Tell a friend about this. Last week’s post racked up 150,000 views in 2 days and melted my server. If a handful of you who read, DO, $25,000 becomes a piece of cake. Here’s a sample tweet
I’m doing something #impossible by making education possible for 1,000 students w/ @JoelRunyon + ImpossibleHQ [click to tweet]
Bonus #1: If you know of (or are) a company, business owner, or organization who’d be interested in getting involved, contributing, matching and doing something impossible, we’d love for you to get involved.  Shoot me an email now at joel [at] impossiblehq [dot] com
Bonus #2: If you’ve got an event or something in your area that you’d like to utilize to help rally people to raise money for our Impossible school – let me know at joel [at] impossiblehq [dot] com.

The math is simple. If 1,000 people donate $25, we’re done. Boom. We hit our goal easily. I know for a fact that we have a community of readers that number much, much more than 1,000 people – there’s no question about that.

The question is

How many doers do we have?

Here’s your chance to put your money where your eyeballs are and literally change people’s lives. With a few minutes of your time and some spare change, you can give someone the opportunity that’s so prevalent in your own life that you probably take it for granted.

$25,000 is a massive goal, it’s scary and big enough that we just might not be able to pull it off – still we’re going to try like hell and we’ve already got a head start on it. Do The Impossible: 50 Quotes To Inspire You To Do The Impossible

Do The Impossible

50 Impossible Quotes

Part of the deal with writing is that some of what you write resonates with people, while some of it completely misses the mark. I try to combat this by hitting publish, even when I’m not sure whether or not what I’m writing sucks. However, while I’ve written my share of bad posts over the last few years, there are also a few that have captured people’s attention. Some of the most popular posts I’ve ever written have been the following two:

While those are great posts by themselves and have been viewed 80,000+ times, I realized I could do something a little more with this than just leave them as flat words on a screen. My good friend David Crandall runs Brand Superpower and is a master of visual + textual presentation and helped me put together something that I’m really excited about. We created a visual presentation and inspirational booklet for you based on these quotes that should inspire your imagination to challenge what you think is possible so you can act on those dreams and make them a reality. I’m excited to have this for you today free of charge.

50 Quotes To Inspire You To Do The Impossible

This beautifully designed impossible quote booklet has quotes and wisdom spanning centuries from visionaries and world-changers such as Walt Disney to Nelson Mandela, Arthur C. Clarke, Marcus Aurelius, Napoleon Bonaparte and Superman (Christopher Reeve). The user guide for this booklet is pretty simple.

  1. Download your copy of 50 Quotes to Inspire you to do the Impossible. (right click, save as)
  2. Read it.
  3. Be Inspired.
  4. Then go do something.
That’s it. Note that #4 is the most important part. As pretty as this might be, if you don’t do something impossible, then all the inspiration in the world won’t do a thing.
So grab a cup of coffee. Sit back. Enjoy this gift. Then go do something impossible.

50 Quotes To Inspire You To Do The Impossible

Major hat tip to David Crandall once again for the incredible design of this piece. He’s incredibly talented and able to help with a lot of branding projects you might have. You can also view the presentation on slideshare below.
Again, thanks for reading the blog. I really do appreciate it. :)

10 Impossible Things I Did In 2011

We’re a few days out from the New Year. While there’s nothing really special about the new year, but it’s a nice arbitrary way to look back on what you’ve done the  past 365 days. I’ve been looking through old blog posts and journals from the last year and it’s been a little bit of a crazy ride as I go through and knock some things off the impossible list. Here are 10 impossible things I did in 2011.

10 Impossible Things I Did In 2011

I Ran A Marathon

I ran a freaking marathon with my buddy James. It still doesn’t seem like I actually did it. 26.2 miles barefoot (well Vibrams). It still seems really surreal. I don’t think I could walk normally for a week afterwards, but it was so cool to decide to do something I literally didn’t think I could do, train for 18 weeks and actually do it and make it happen. One of the most painful things I’ve ever done, but so worth it and I’m very glad it’s over – as you might be able to guess from the photos.

Impossible marathon

I Quit My Job

I quit my job. BOOM. I was making a good salary, working with good people and showing up at 10pm. It was pretty comfortable. But I’m on an unending quest to be be comfortable with the uncomfortable. So I moved to another state and started a new job. Lots of things have come from that decision, but it’s been an experience that has pushed me and stretched me personally to think completely different about business and life than I did just 6 months ago.

I Went On An Epic Road Trip

impossible-road-trip

I got to hang out with Nate Damm and my brother for 2 weeks driving across the country, sleeping in a car, and sneaking into national parks. It was awesome. Here are a few of the places we made it to in those 14 or so days.

  • St. Louis
  • Mt. Rushmore
  • Yellowstone National Park
  • Glacier National Park
  • Seattle
  • Portland
  • Tahoe
  • Las Vegas
  • The Grand Canyon
  • Denver

This road trip took me places I’ve never been before and there are so many stories from this trip that I never got the chance to share. International travel has been a huge part of my life in the last 5 years, but this trip made me realize how much there is to explore in my own backyard. I’ll be doing a lot more of this in the near future.

I Took 41 People Skydiving

We took a break from driving when we got to portland and took 41 people skydiving. This was a heck of an adventure that sort of came out of no where. Last year on a whim I decided I was going to go skydiving at WDS. I asked if anyone wanted to come. I thought that I might convince 5 or so people to come. 63 people wanted more information. 41 actually paid and said they’d show up.

What?

Organizing a skydiving adventure 45 minutes outside a city you’ve never been, from halfway across the country is no small task, but somehow it all went off without a hitch. 41 people did something impossible, faced their fears and most importantly – NO ONE DIED. That’s a win, if I’ve ever heard of one (even if my  jump did make me look completely stupid).

impossible-skydive

Goggles? Who needs goggles?

I Launched Impossible HQ

impossible-hq

This was probably the second most important launch I did this year (#1 is coming up). If you haven’t checked it out – go check it out now. Now. I’ll be here when you come back.

Off of it, we’ve been able to launch 3 initiatives so far (a community, a manifesto, and a shirt). Moving forward, HQ will even more important and I’m really happy to have finalized and live, and having a platform to do even bigger things here in 2012.

I Spoke at a University (Twice!)

University of Wisconsin Superior asked me to talk to their freshman year seminar class on living life differently. This was my first “talk” and I didn’t really know what to expect, especially since I was going to be presenting over skype. They put my big ugly mug up on the projection screen and I thought I spent most of the time doing what I thought was rambling. Apparently, they liked me enough to ask me back. That’s a good thing, right?

Anyways, apparently it had enough of an impact to where they all ended up getting impossible shirts and wore it during their final presentation. I’d be lying if I said that wasn’t pretty freaking awesome.

I Ran a Half Ironman

I ran a half-ironman? 70.3 Miles. 1.2 mile swim. 56 mile bike ride. 13.1 mile run.  It’s starting to sound cliche when I say this, but I really didn’t know if I could actually do this when I set out to do it. I learned a lot flying down to Miami, shipping my bike, and narrowly avoiding a hurricane in order to finish out the 70.3 miles and do this. I’m finally starting to process that I actually did this this year and that it wasn’t just some dream I had. Crazy.

I Launched a Manifesto

impossible-manifestoI finally launched it. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can download IMPOSSIBLE for free. This might not sound like a big deal, but it took me entirely way too long to knock this out (just ask Nate Damm). I finally finished it and it was so worth it. It’s not perfect, but even so, it’s been able to reach several thousand people. I’ve gotten countless emails and comments about it and it’s really been fun to create something that can be passed around from friend to friend and impact people on a continual basis.

In the next few weeks, we’ll be making the audience even wider and will be releasing a kindle and an ePub version, so if you have an e-reader device of some sort, be on the lookout for it.

I Left My Job Again (This is new!)

I actually haven’t announced it around here but as of the a few weeks ago, I left my last job. First realization: I HAVE SO MUCH TIME. Somewhere between working a 40 hour/week job, running an impossible blog, and a few other fun projects while training for marathons and Half-Ironmans, it gets hard to find time for everything. Now with an extra 40 hours/week, it will be interesting to see what I can make happen (stay tuned).

I 10Xed the Size of Blog

Every once in a while, I’ll look back at my numbers and sort of get a MEH face. If you look at the numbers on a day to day basis, you never get anything done and it’s hard to stay motivated because it’s hard to spot small changes over a short period of time. However, if I step back and look at those small changes over time – they add up – A LOT. The benchmarks have changed completely since last year.

Numbers that I would have been ecstatic about last year are simply normal. Whether it’s seeing a post reach 60,000 people in a few days or seeing 100,000 people stumble on the Impossible List,  it’s crazy to think how things have changed in the last 365 days (and that’s no even counting any of the other Impossible properties). Seeing the blog turn into something bigger than a “just a blog” has been very, very cool to see.

Honorable Mentions

Some other things that happened that were pretty awesome, but just couldn’t fit themselves into such a short list.

Looking back it seems like I did a lot of things this year (I really did!), but none of them just happened. There were a lot of little steps. A lot of 3 miles runs. A lot of workouts when I didn’t want to do or when it wasn’t convenient. They didn’t happen just ’cause I sat around and waited for them to happen. They happened because I focused on doing something consistently over time. Do. Launch. Learn. Repeat.

2011 was a hell of a year. 2012 has a lot to live up to…but I love a good challenge and have a lot of things slated here for the new year to get us off on the right foot.

I know from the League, and from all the messages I’ve gotten that I’m not the only one who’s done some impossible things this year. I want to know: What impossible things did you do in 2011? Let me know in the comments.

If you haven’t yet, check out my guest post “The $100 Sandbox” at my good friend Sean Ogle’s site – Location180. Sean was one of the first people I read that made me realize that everything wasn’t so impossible and it’s pretty cool to be able to write something for him these days. Have a great New Years!

Introducing Impossible: The Manifesto

Impossible

The wait is finally over and it’s here. I’ve talked about this enough so you can read about it more over at Impossible HQ. I know, I know, you all thought it was impossible for me to actually finish this, but it’s finally here :)

What is the Impossible Manifesto?

It’s a challenge to push your limits, and live a life worth writing about by doing the impossible.

What’s In It?

I’m not big into promoting word counts or page numbers (they really don’t mean anything anyways) and I have better things to do than try and convince you that the number of characters on a page mean more than the quality of them. The bottom line is that this will take you less than 20 minutes to read. In it you’ll find the following things:

  • A Closer Look Into My Story
  • The Question That Changed Everything For Me
  • What Limits Really Are
  • Three Stories From People who Literally Did the Impossible.
  • The Fear Barometer (and how to make scary decisions)

Along with a few other really important concepts I wanted to include.

Where Can I Get It?

Check it out over on the HQ. You can download it for absolutely free, cause I love you guys like that.

Tell Someone

I usually refrain from asking people for favors, but I would love to hear what you think about the manifesto. Leave a comment below with your thoughts and pass the link along to a friend or two if you think it’s worth their time. Also, you can tweet or stumble this using the buttons below, by doing so you can help this reach more people. Thanks.

Enjoy the manifesto. Keep doing something impossible.
