[powerpress] In today's episode, Vic Magary joins me as we talk about Dr. Oz's meeting with Congress including some of the ridiculous "supplements" he promoted including green coffee bean extract, raspberry ketones and a load of other BS. We also talk about 3 things that you can add to your fitness lifestyle tomorrow to get better returns than whatever "miracle" pill Dr. Oz is pitching this week. Shut Up And Run
This was one of the posts that I ingrained into my head while running Comrades marathon and one of the mantras I kept in mind throughout the whole course. The post is originally at "Also Ran Runners." Many thanks to them for allowing me to repost this. The most important thing about running is running! “Shut up and run” is the answer to just about any running woe you may encounter. This is as much a part of your mental preparation as it is a part of your ...
Impossible FM #006: Unknown Unknowns & Why The Better You Get At Something, The Less You Know
[powerpress] There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know. - Donald Rumsfeld Today on the podcast, I talk about the phenomena of why - as you get better at something, you feel like you know less than ever. I reference Donald Rumsfeld's quote (which I never thought I'd do ...
Impossible Gear Contest Winners
Finally! 4 weeks, an ultra marathon, 3 continents later, we have our winners of the Impossible Gear contest. I'm uber late on this and in order to make up for this, instead of just sending out 5 shirts or so, we're going big. I've got 20 some pieces to give away. If you're one of the winners, you'll receive an email with a form to fill out and you'll get your shirt in a few days. BOOM Remember, wearing an impossible shirt is a responsibility. ...
The Atlantic Challenge
Every now and then I like to make up games. While they're similar to Dan's "parlour games", these games are life and business games. Instead of thought exercises, they're doing exercises. Want to be more productive? Try Workstation Popcorn. Want to get uncomfortable? Try Cold Shower Therapy. Want more adventure? Try Adventure Roulette. As well as being fun, games make life more interesting, and serve as challenges with which to test ...

Ouch From South Africa
Good morning from Cape Town! On Sunday I ran the Comrades Marathon - a 56 miles (89 kilometers) ultra marathon. "Ouch" is the main word that comes to mind post-race. Nevertheless I've finished and I'm quite happy about it. I'm currently working on getting my legs back at the moment, and while I don't feel exactly "good", I feel better than I anticipated (which is a nice surprise). I'll have a full race writeup and a mini-podcast out on ...
