Lots of good information. I’m looking forward to checking out the program. Also, posting more videos is a good idea. Have you considered buying a GoPro? Could be cool to use on your adventures.

Joel, loving yr work! great vids with a really natural vibe. Best quote award for “go find your doctor & punch him in the face”.
It really upsets me when I meet frustrated adults who have lived unfulfilled mediocre lives because some thoughtless ass told them as a kid that they ‘couldn’t’.

One of my mantras in life, “whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re probably right”. I don’t know who said it first but they’re damn wise words!

PS: Received my navy blue vest the other week, it’s getting me some good attention, who designed the cut on that?! 😉

    i ride (road+MTB) around 150 miles/week on average.

as a long-time cyclist, i’ve been conditioned to carbs, energy bars, electrolytes and sugars

been stuck about 10-15# over where i want to be for some time with little fluctuation. also been tired of the science projects in the grocery store that pass for food

decided to go paleo for the month of sept. to see how only eating unprocessed stuff and stuff that i can pronounce takes me

given that you’ve had some experience with distance/endurance events, any suggestions or thoughts?

your response on running seemed to be aimed at “is running similarly effective for weight loss” vs. “will running 20 miles/week throw me off the program”?

appreciate any thoughts you might have, or links to any other paleo resources you’re a fan of..

Check out “paleo diet for athletes” – It has some really good resources on how to do a paleo-esque diet for long distance/endurance events – http://www.amazon.com/The-Paleo-Diet-Athletes-Nutritional/dp/1594860890.

It’s going to suck at first – retraining your body to go from burning simple carbs to fat – especially for endurance events, but once you start to retrain your body to do so, I find my energy levels are much more even and you don’t have to intake nearly as much food throughout an event, because you’re simply burning your body fat for energy.

I’ve created UltimatePaleoGuide.com as well that has a ton of resources on it as well.

I’m not saying that you can’t do both at once, but if you’re really looking to drop that weight, taking a month or two off biking/running to focus solely on losing the weight could get you where you want to be faster, and then you can refocus on merging the diet & cycling (it’s a lot easier to maintain than it is to lose it initially). Make sense?
