When you start working out with a barbell, your hands get raw. You tear skin, get cuts, but eventually calluses begin to form.
When they do, the everyday movement doesn’t bother you so much and over time, you might even forget they’re there.
But calluses only develop in places you consistently test. Calluses on your hands won’t help your feet if you start walking barefoot. It’s a whole new world.
You have to start from scratch.
And doesn’t matter if your hands are workworn and ready – that first step on gravel barefoot is gonna suck.
The sensation that one pebble can shoot through your nervous system is a primal reminder of what it took to get those callouses in the first place.
If you’re feeling a little too comfortable with your world – go build some calluses.
