In the latest podcast with Chris Guillebeau, we touch on mindset, business and our former careers as package delivery men. One time that came up, when it came to “making things” – is that it fundamentally changes your view on the world. I mentioned it on the podcast and realized I had never shared it on the site. Here’s that quote:
When you grow up you tend to get told the world is the way it is and you’re life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much.
Try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money. That’s a very limited life.
Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.
Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.

This section in particular screams at me every time I listen to it:
Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.
Think about that.

I am writing to you today to say “Thank You!” I only signed into your page two days ago and your kindred mission experience is in fact inspiring for a pauper entrepreneur. Yesterday I tweaked the business plans realizing how high I set the bar.
November 2017 I secured the support of Fundwise and purchased two packages. December 2017 my LLC was filed and January 2018 initiates the selection of the S Corp Election.
The challenge is financing the launch. Presently operations remain in limbo due to the fact that I have what is referred to as “ghost credit.”
Now here is where it gets even more impossible “I presently am out of the work force and not married to the man of the house.” On a postive note I own my house outright, so one would think I would easily be able to leverage the home equity for a line of credit. Not so true when I was raised extremely old school “pay cash whenever possible and avoid using plastic.”
I remain determined to follow through and achieve the proper positioning to launch business opperations. I am building connections on the Linked In network and have people on standby supportive of my missions. However, they are in no better financial situation than I am. Although I do plan to employ their skills, experience, and talents once I have the financial means to do so.
The man of the house laughed at me when I explained the Cold Shower Challenge to him this morning. Well I assure you, its not that he was being discouraging, he simply got a laugh of the notion that a person with poor circulation voluntarily accepts the challenge. Simply stepping outside for 5 minutes during the winter here in NY the blood flow to my fingers and toes slows and its all very much painful.
The 30 days certainly will be uncomfortably awakening. I am truly optomistic that I will be a step foward in the right direction each day that I apply the IMPOSSIBLE challenge concepts. I look foward to reading more during the days ahead ; ) I GOT THIS 💞
Sincerely, Melissa Bentz

Ok day 1 madecit through a grueling and quite shocking I must say 4 min 50 secs. Having screamed from the start. And well I am still shivering nearly 15 minutes after my fingers are white and numb. Guess the man of the house was in fact correct that my circulation issues would kick in. My mind is definately alert for sure as my teeth chatter. I certainly won’t nod off driving to pick him uo from work. And well the cold night ny air won’t be so horrible either it may actually be warmer than the temp of the shower. I did let ot run awhile befire I hopped in to have it truly as cold as can be. Good night.
