Last Friday, I got a couple emails:
Joel – this looks awesome – but what exactly is the FPC Protocol?
Great question – I guess I should go a bit more in depth.
When most people try to lean out, they declare a war on carbs. The core idea of FPC is that carbs are not bad (phew!), but you need to know how to use them.
But before you go crazy, if you’re direly overweight or trying to lose a bunch – carbs can suck. They make you hungry, spike your insulin levels and tell your body you’re in a food surplus state – so you’ll store the energy as fat for the future – if you’re not actively working out.
If you’re not doing much – get rid of carbs and you’ll lean out super quick. As Les said when he lost 100+ pounds and reversed his type 2 diabetes – “I realized it was all about sugar.”
That said, after you lose a certain amount of weight or look a certain way, carbs aren’t the devil. They’re useful – but you have to USE them correctly. If you don’t – they’ll use you.
When I’m running ultra marathons – I eat a lot of carbs – they help a lot. If you’re trying to add muscle, carbs are really, really helpful.
The FPC protocol shows you how to create an ideal eating framework designed to help you perform.
In other words:
Who FPC Is NOT For
- You have over 30 pounds to lose.
- You’re not willing to experiment or tweak things on your own.
- You want a hand-held coaching experience.
Who FPC Is For
- You’ve always thought you’re underweight or too “skinny” and had trouble gaining weight.
- You haven’t ever felt “strong” and want to change that.
- You’re willing to act, experiment and try new things.
It’s also requires a bit of experimentation.
It’s a quick guide – you can read it in one sitting – it’s designed to be like that. The next thing you need jot do is act, experiment and tweak it to fit you.
If you’re going to stare at your belly button and ask 100 questions before trying it out – it’s probably not a good fit. But, if you’re action oriented, willing to experiment and ACT – you’ll get a lot of out of it.
