Push Your Limits | Do Something Impossible
I read a post by my friend Chris the other day where he recommended:
Wondering what to write about? Someone once told me, “Start with the last thing you learned—then share that.”
1. It’s better to become strong and do hard things than to stay the same and seek our comfort.
2. Honesty stings more and is much rarer than the alternative, but speeds up any learning process 100x.
3a. It’s better to adapt to your environment rather than hope your reality adapts to you.
3b. It’s even better to actively influence your environment rather than hope your reality adapts to you.
4. Know what you’re willing to fight for but also (more importantly) know what you’re willing to let go without expending any energy.
5. Finished is always better than perfect.
6. If you want to build a good team, find people who are willing to challenge your ideas.
7. When planning (if absolutely necessary), spend your time planning principles. The details will change. The principles will stay the same & guide you through the journey.
8. Thick skin is more valuable than your ego. Kill your ego. Take criticism. Learn.
9. Where there’s chaos, there is opportunity.

Everything takes longer than expected.

Oh, and money. Everything… EVERYTHING… costs WAY more money than anticipated. Take the worst case scenario, triple it, and it’ll still cost more.

I like the truth that “finished is better than perfect.” I’ve learned that for me, perfect doesn’t even exist. There will always be something in my work that I can improve, and if I hang onto this mindset I’d never accomplish anything because I’d always be trying to make those little improvements. So this is really important to understand!

I’ve learnt that relationships are base on honesty and kindness NOT niceness. Niceness has been my motto for years and has held me back from speaking the truth to my friends or being authentic and the relationship usually fizzles out an I end up feeling lonely and unseen .

Just wanted to genuinely say thanks for taking the time to write this article it helped me get through a challenging issue.

One of my favorite quotes from General George Patton:
“A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed at some indefinite time in the future.”
I have this on a post it note in front of me.

You don’t have to explain your self to anyone when it comes to doing what is best for you and the ones around you. I have learn that silence is also an answer as well.

1. Thoughts become things.
2. Very little of what we think is important actually is.

I’ve always liked that about “thick skin” and also how to respond to criticisms.
I’ve told people often in the service end of ministry to always have A Tender Heart but Develop a Thick Skin.
And good leadership is that which always is alert to what is needed who work for you. Serve them to be successful in their job and the benefit is your own success.

So true. Big believer in mental toughness in order to see opportunities in disguise. Reading “The Obstacle is the Way” again. Really great read!
