What’s the thing?
The thing you’re meaning to do, but haven’t done “quite yet.”
It’s difficult, it’s hard, and you don’t want to do it yet.
Most people would say you need to do something else. Relax, lower your standards and do something easier.
But what if you don’t?
What if you need way more stress in your life.
If you’re feeling slow, stuck or need a change. Maybe you don’t need to have things be easier, or do less.
Maybe you need to wake the hell up.
Realize who the hell you are to say something like that and go back through what you’ve been through:
- You need to remember how bad that job was.
- How much it sucked to be overweight and be out of breath when you walked up a flight of stairs.
- How much it would suck to look someone in the eyes and tell them you failed.
You think things are bad now?
- You think it’s hard to hit the gym?
- You think it’s hard to send that invoice?
- You think it’s hard to make that phone call?
It’s only going to get harder.
Besides, you might not even be at your limit – you might just be stuck in a rut on low gear. Operating a mediocre version of yourself, bored on easy mode, and upset that you’re not making any progress.
You’re trying to street race in first gear.
Yeah, I get it.
Life is hard. You’re stressed. Money is tight. You can’t remember the last time you weighed this much. You have a lot of stuff going on.
But you have enough air to breathe so you’re not dead yet.
So maybe you need to wait till things get easier.
Or maybe you need things to get harder. To get backed up against a wall, with the walls closing in.
Are you really going to go out like that?
Become the person that can handle it.
Lean into it and fight your way out.
- Hit the gym.
- Send the invoice.
- Make the call.
Do the thing.
It’s only going to get harder.

From the last one year, I have been constantly reminding myself that the best time to do anything is now. It has been a very positive change!
