I wrote this in my journal during a particularly tough time. You might find it helpful.

No one is coming to save you.
There is no one coming to save you.
There is no one coming to save you.
There is no one coming to save you.
There are no superheroes.
There is no such thing as “fair”
It will not ‘just happen.”
You have to make it happen.
There is no one coming to save you.
So stop waiting for a superhero to show up and become one already.
Save yourself.
There is no plan b.

… putting away my superhero cape… 🙂
It’s interesting you said you wrote it during a tough time. I’m giving myself the same talk when I get disappointed by others. It’s good to remember that you’re the only one accountable for everything that is happening in your life and to stop relying or leaning on those around you. If you have friends or family, they are there to “support/encourage” you, not to DO things for you.
I usually look at myself in the mirror and say, “You’ve got this!”.
It turns out I do.

Reminded of an old post from an old blog, but it’s a very good read and proves that great minds think alike.

Thanks Joel. Those words ring true. I had grown up thinking we’re this inter-connected society and would each pitch in to help our fellow man or woman. But as I get older, I see this is not often the case. Many people are all caught up in their own thing and don’t have time nor resources to spare. You’re right – one has to make it happen and not wait on another to come through.

Hi Joel
Great, great article mate. Very short, blunt & to the point. Your complete no bullshit approach to life & achieving great things is very, very refreshing.
Keep up the good work. Very few teachers have the guts to really tell it as it is. You are dead right — no-one is coming to save you — not now, NOT EVER !!
