I want to introduce you to a new website I’m launching through Impossible X – the parent company that runs all of our projects here at IMPOSSIBLE.
It’s called StartABlog.tv and it’s the best place to learn to set up a blog.
So why am I doing this?
Well, I get asked quite a bit about how to start a blog.
I’ve built IMPOSSIBLE from something I was writing in my parents basement to a full-time business that I run from anywhere in the world.
I started Ultimate Paleo Guide and turned it into a full fledged paleo ecosystem that’s now it’s own separate business and runs on it’s own.
Together, the sites do millions of visitors a year and have hundreds of thousands of subscribers.
I’ve worked with Fortune 500 companies and startups through my company to triple their traffic. I’ve scaled bootstrapped startups into multi-million dollar businesses through my work with them.
I wound down my consulting work a lot in the past year because I have a lot more opportunity building IMPOSSIBLE into the business I’ve envisioned it to be and to grow the team at Paleo Meal Plans than I did working on short term (though lucrative) consulting contracts.
That said, I get asked the “how to start a blog” question dozens of times a week and I got tired of being a jerk and responding (just write).
At the same time, I’ve never wanted to be a “blogging coach.” I’m not going to put together private facebook groups on how to start a blog or blog about blogging. I want to focus on bigger projects, but I didn’t want to be dismissive either.
I think blogging is such an important skill, that I wanted to build a best-of-class resource on how to do just that. A resource that (like everything else I make) tries to break down all your excuses and just help you get started.
So that’s what we built.
Start A Blog TV is stuffed with tutorials on how to start a blog, get started with the tech stack and make something happen. The goal is to make it your one-stop-shop to start a blog without turning IMPOSSIBLE into a blog about blogging about blogging :).
Meanwhile, on Impossible, I’ll be doing occasional updates on StartaBlog.tv is progressing over the next few months and it will be fun more me to see how it progresses (and hopefully you’ll enjoy it too).
But beyond all that – why am I doing this?
It’s a Cool Domain
I picked up the domain a while back and it was pretty neat. Not only does it tell you exactly what it does, but the .tv extension helps me a ton with the next purpose of the site.
Video is Super Useful
Video is one area where I think I can do a lot more good work. I enjoy it, I have fun and love the medium. I love writing, but sometimes getting on video seems a lot less high-pressure than constantly going back and forth editing a piece to make sure it says exactly what I meant.
On top of that, I’m always looking for areas that are tougher to do than the competition and I think videos have a bigger barrier to entry than writing.
It’s a Useful Topic
I can’t tell you how many people ping me all the time about wanting to start a blog. If you started blogging 10 years ago, it was super tough – you had to code up a site all by yourself and you had to have a series of skills.
However, these days, it’s a lot easier. If you have the right software, you can get going in 5 minutes or less for less than $60/year.
I think StartABlog.tv can make it more accessible.
It’s an Experiment
I’ve talked to a lot of people lately about using systems vs. goals. It’s a concept that Scott Adams talks about (you should buy his books), but too many people place too much emphasis on having one thing they do and have it be the next Facebook. The reality is that most people don’t know what will work out the gate. So, the question becomes – how do you test things quickly & easily and get something out of it – even if you don’t
- Worst case scenario: I open the door to how to build your own website and build a great resource in the process.
- Best case scenario: I do all that and turn it into a self-sustaining business.
So many people are afraid of making something because they turn it into an all-or-nothing situation. What you need to do from the get-go is to create multiple ways for things to be successful. That way, even if you fail at your primary goal, you still succeed and get something out of the effort.
So, with all that, you can check out StartaBlog.tv here. It’s not perfect, but we’re going to be adding to it regularly and making it better and better every week.
Some of the highlights you might want to jump into directly.
I hope you find it helpful!

One more thing: If this type of content is interesting please comment and let me know. I’d love to share more behind the scenes about what we’re doing at IMPOSSIBLE X – as more of a helpful “this is our experience” rather than trying to sell any programs that teach you how to do it.

Yes I love the behind the scenes content. It’s inspiring to see what you’ve accomplished so far businesswise, so keep it coming! Good luck with the new project.
