Blogging has changed my life.
It’s taken me from living in my parents basement, to running triathlons, to growing an online business, running ultra marathons, starting another business, building multiple apps, and traveling around the world.
Some of the places I’ve been able to go because of blogging (this was just this year).

There’s been a hundred things along the way that have contributed to me doing all those things, but again, it all started with a blog.
So I’m interested in helping more people get started with it – yes – even in 2017.
And before you get two worried – no – I’m not doing a blogging course, a how-to method, or a webinar
I just think you should blog.
Whether that’s a 100 day challenge or a 30 day challenge or a 100 day challenge – and if nothing else – forces you to start communicating better on a day-to-day basis. Best case scenario: you change your mindset, change your thinking and change your life.
So – here’s what’s happening.
I want to personally help 100 people start a blog. And give you a bunch of bonuses along the way.
And by help, I mean I will do the work for you. Yup – if you’re want to start doing something that will have a guaranteed positive impact on your life – I really do think blogging is that thing – you should start blogging. I believe that so much so that I’ll push you over the starting line.
Yes, I already have built a pretty comprehensive tutorial on blogging right here on how to start your own blog yourself, if you’re serious about blogging – I’ll do the work for you.
If you’re interested,
Here’s what you’ll get:
- You’ll get a 5 page website & blog with the following pages:
- About / Blog / Impossible List (optional) / Archive / Contact
- Access to the Genesis Framework + Your Choice of 1 StudioPress theme ($300 value)
- Access To Gravity Forms ($40 value)
- 30 day email series and prompts on blogging (starts when your site is live)
What this isn’t:
- This is not 1-on-1 coaching
- This is not a customized blog design
- This is not something that I will be doing all the time (at least not that I know of)
This is a super-fast way to get started blogging with some of the best rock-solid tools on WordPress.
So why am I doing this? To be honest, it’s a bit outside the brand-scope of IMPOSSIBLE (I’m not trying to turn IMPOSSIBLE into a blog about blogging (ugh)).
But, after blogging has done so much for me – I want to be able to give other people the opportunity to do it as well – and again – like cold showers, blackmail and everything else – take away all the excuses you might have for not pushing your limits.
Yes – there are other platforms you can put your work out into the world on – youtube, podcasts, etc – but nothing quite forces you to articulate your own thoughts like blogging.
Again, I’m not charging you anything for this. If you want more, hit the link below.
=> Go to this link & fill out the required information.
In 7+ days, you’ll have a new site live #boom
p.s. I’m limiting this to the first 100 people to fill out the form. They will be handled in the order they come in. If you’re outside that first 100, you will be added to the wait list and I will get to them when we can (no promises).
Let’s go! – start blogging & go do something impossible.

Why doesn’t this post have 100 comments already?
I was gonna type that in all caps for emphasis. So, yeah:
WHY DOESN’T THIS POST HAVE 100 COMMENTS ALREADY?
I already have a blog. Of sorts. A couple of dormant web pages, anyway. Some use WordPress themes. Some use the Genesis Framework and themes. None of them have much content. Periodically I delete them and start over with grand ambitions.
I followed Joel’s tutorial. It’s awesome. It’s step-by-step. It is by far the most straightforward and idiot-proof blog set-up tutorial I have found anywhere. And he offers it for free. Dunno why. Part of that giving-back thing he does, because he’s awesome.
I’m still not sure how he parlayed the blog in to being a world traveler with, if not loads of disposable income and free time, at least adequate disposable income and free time to lounge around on the beach or in fanceh hotels or totravel to freakin’ Antarctica, all the while raising close to $300k to help build schools in third-world countries. I’m still trying to figure that part out.
Each time he posts something blog related, I get all inspired to start again.
As much as I would love to take part in this, just to see what’s being offered, I don’t really need to. As I said, I have a handful of domains with blogs set up, I have Genesis (paid for out of my own pocket), and… uh… instead of blogging productively I pretty much waste all my online time surfing through photos on Instagram and stuff.
Yeah.
Anyway, I’m hoping a LOT OF PEOPLE jump on board for this opportunity. I’ll be watching for updates and suggestions on where to go once the blog is up and running. That is, how can a broke guy with no job turn a simple blog into unlimited world travel and donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to poor kids. (And getting a super-hot girlfriend; there’s an interesting perk he didn’t mention!)
I’ll skip the “getting sued” part, if it’s all the same.
Oh, one more thing, a “technical question” about blogging regarding comments. What is the best way, or easiest way, or cheapest way, or even better, the most effective way, to allow blog post comments while screening out the spammers and bots? I’ve turned off comments on all my blog sites because even if I don’t post anything new the spam volume is too much to deal with manually.

Haha – Thanks for the good words David 🙂
I’ve shied away from talking about “how to make money from a blog” topics just because I don’t want IMPOSSIBLE to become a brand about that – but I do know there is interest in it.
I’ve done a few talks at conferences on this stuff, but not as much on the blog.
I’ve thought about running an “inside impossible” series on how some of the business gets done that’s more about being transparent than it is about teaching “how to make money online.”
Thoughts?

Your site has never, thank goodness, been about “making money online” or “making money from a blog.” I’ve looked at so many of those sites over the years, and they’re all the same… and they’re all kinda spammy and scammy and, yeah, you know.
You don’t even have sidebar ads here at ImpossibleHQ, and you very rarely include affiliate links, so obviously you’re not “making money online” in the traditional sense.
Yeah, an “Inside Impossible” series, or even a course (yup, a scammy spammy $97 but for a limited time only $37 course) with the nuts and bolts of how you turned The Blog of Impossible Things into ImpossibleHQ and related businesses, about how you went from Indoor Tri to 7 continent ultra-runner, and about how you went from unemployed dude living in a basement apartment and taping YouTube videos in your kitchen to traveling around the world and living in hotels and being featured in major magazine articles. (And give the real dirt on how a UPS seasonal temp can qualify for the travel cards to accrue all those frequent flyer miles to fly to Africa and Asia and Antarctica when those of us with actual jobs and stuff can’t qualify for most of those cards.)
Making money from a blog? Nah. The behind-the-scenes details on how you built a successful and awesome business empire and an enviable lifestyle using a personal blog as a stepping stone: definitely! I’d even pay $37 to be a part of that. Or even $97!

Hi Joel,
I just signed up and keeping my fingers crossed I am part of the 100 people. Just to be clear, the site will be set up using wordpress.com and not wordpress.org?
Joel Runyon says
It will be through wordpress.org if you get your own hosting.

Hi Joel, I bought a domain/hosting on WordPress.com yesterday by did not realize that I had to buy Bluehost to qualify for this. I’ve been a fan of your blog since 2013 and have loved watching it grow. I am ready for serious change in my life as well and would love your help. At the very least, can I still qualify for the email prompts? My site is live as of yesterday. Thanks!

Hi Sarah,
I don’t recommend using wordpress.com at all since they limit what plugins you can use on your site + the features you can add. They make it extremely hard to switch providers and it’s a headache dealing with.
Sarah Cornelius says
Thanks for the reply,
I took your advice and bought a new domain with BlueHost/wordpress.org. Not sure why I didn’t realize the two were so different. I signed up with your link and am hoping to be one of the lucky hundred. Thank you for the opportunity!

Hello Joel!
I’ve recently found about your impossible list and blog while I was seeking inspiration to change and dream big. They blew my mind and made me want to start blogging too. I have just 2 quick questions.
Do you still have free spots from this 100 blog? If not, is it possible to get the 30 day email series and prompts on blogging? I would want to start blogging anyway. I already checked out your guide about starting and it’s super heplful!
The other one is that my significant other and I decided to blog together. Is it okay to use the domain for 2 person? It sounds quite a foolish question but I would prefer to have everything clear.
Thanks:)

Thank you for the opportunity but now after making clear with my partner that we would like to build a site where we can track our progress and not a “traditional blog” like yours I dont want to accept something you’ve put so many time and effort in.
You stil are a huge inspiration for me. I’ve already wrote my own impossible list and I am happier than ever cuz my goals are so clear now, they make it so easy to focus and plan ahead. Thanks
