It’s been a while since I’ve done a 777 update on fundraising- mostly because I’ve been so deeply immersed in it.
After getting derailed for a good 18 months due to injury, business and personal issues, I’m happy to report I’m back at it.
In the first 6 weeks of the year, I’ve made huge progress on the running part of the challenge and now I’ve got a couple weeks coming up where I can come up for air for a bit and breathe and report back on where I’m at.
The last two months have been a whirlwind and the first 6 of the weeks were essentially non-stop travel and running.
To put it in some perspective, since January 1, I have
- Boarded 23 flights…
- …and flown over 72,000 miles.
- Visited 12 countries on 6 continents
- Run 4 races on 4 continents (Australia, Antarctica, Asia, Europe)
- And I’ve raced 284km (176 miles)
On top of that, you guys have stepped it up in a huge way on the fundraising side of things. So far to-date, we have
- raised over $125,337
- from 650 total donations
- Raised enough funds for 5 schools
- And have just two schools left to go!
Woah.
I’m also matching all funds donated through to the end of the year, so, we are really, really close to our goal.
Check it out…
As for the races, they’ve been hot, cold, frozen and jungle-ish and some incredible and very hard experiences. I’ve shared a lot of the recaps of so far, but I’ll be sharing the the videos for each of the races I’ve done for the next 4 weeks. I’ve been on such a tear with running and flying that I haven’t had the time and now that I’m coming up for air, I’m hard at work getting them live to share the experience with you guys.
The first video from Australia – a 12 hour ultra marathon that started on New Years Eve and ended on New Years morning is available today. Some people use New Years to party – I guess I just run a lot.
Get Involved with 777
If you want to get involved with 777, you can do a few things.
Donate (and double your impact)
If you donate here, I’ll double your donation.
From the very beginning of 777, I’ve been very serious about putting my money where my mouth is and using IMPOSSIBLE to not only raise awareness for Pencils of Promise, but give back as well. So, when you (or anyone from the IMPOSSIBLE community) makes a contribution, I’ll double it. #boom
A lot of people don’t think they can contribute because they can’t give $1,000 or something ridiculous, but every single contribution gets doubled and it makes it that much more impactful.
Just like life, small actions over time, add up.

Tell someone about it
If you know someone who’s interested in pushing their limits, and doing some good in the world, share the story with them. The goal of 777 has always been to push my limits and give back but also to help inspire others to push out on their limits and do something they think is impossible. If an average guy that got laid off at UPS can run an ultra marathon on every continent, you can do something on your impossible list as well.
Stay tuned
Over the next 6 weeks, I’ll be releasing a video every week of the races done so far this year. Also, in the next month, I’ll be visiting some PoP school locations and sharing the stories from there so you can see the real world impact we’re having on the ground. It’s not just numbers on a website, but a real impact that’s happening and I want to share that with you guys.
I’ve also included the links below so you can catch up on the previous chapters of 777 (in case you’re a little behind). The videos come complete with a whole range of Impossible-face and you can see what I actually look like when in the middle of these events.
