[Photo Credit] One of the hardest things for me is being consistent in my workout routines. I find I have weeks where I can workout everyday, no problem. Then there are other weeks where I'm either busy, distracted, unmotivated or just annoyed where working out is a full-fledged struggle. I've talked about how dangerous inaction can be and since then [with the help of some of you], I've worked on developing a new mindset for my workouts that has helped ...

Kindness
My car broke down last night for who knows what reason [I know nothing about cars]. Before I knew it I was THAT GUY. THAT GUY with the busted car. THAT GUY in the right lane not turning right. THAT GUY holding up a horde of traffic trying to get home. After a few minutes of getting honked at, driven around and stared at while on the phone with AAA, a guy walked up, asked me if I needed help. I said sure so he went ahead and helped direct the ...
New “Shoes”
Hey, I put some new shoes on, And suddenly everything is right - Paolo Nutini [Listen] ---- I've been needing new shoes lately. My current shoes I got January '09 for my last track season. I've been wearing them since and they've been pretty worn down. I needed to get some new ones and I've been seeing and hearing a lot of Vibrams 5 Fingers shoes and hearing people swear by them. I sent out a shout on twitter to see if they really were the real deal ...
It’s Official [Sort Of]
It's official. I'm a triathlete. At least according the the USAT (USA Triathlon). I have the card to prove it. I paid the $39 and went ahead and did it. Honestly, I'm not sure exactly what membership gets me other than a card I get mailed to me that proves I'm a member and I don't have to pay a $10 one-day membership fee at every triathlon I sign up for. Essentially this means I have to do at least 4 triathlons this year, because I'll be danged if I ...
Who Says?
Who Says? I want to know Who says? Who says? Who says you're not good enough? smart enough? strong enough? talented enough? Who says you're not realistic enough? Who says? Who says? Who says you can't travel? be awesome? start your own business? do what you love? Who says you can't change the world? Who says? Who says? Who says you're not? Who says you can't? Who says it's too hard? Who says it's impossible? Who says? Who says? I want to ...
Welcome Get Rich Slowly Readers!
Welcome Get Rich Slowly Readers! For my regular readers that don't know, JD Roth, generously allowed me a guest post titled "Learning To Read The Fine Print" on his amazing personal finance blog: Get Rich Slowly and I owe him a HUGE thank you. Get Rich Slowly was one of the first blogs I ever read when I got into the blogging world and I finally had the opportunity to meet JD last month at the Chicago Blogger Meetup. It really is amazing of him to let me ...
Run Through The Rain
If you've been reading the blog for any time, you should know that it's general knowledge that I'm not the greatest runner in the world. I try hard and I am actually getting noticeably better but it's still not my favorite activity in the world. The other day I went out late for my run and decided to go on a different route than I normally do. The run was to be about 4.5 miles which is still somewhat of a stretch for me since I'm getting used to long[er] ...
Dangerous Inaction
Last Thursday was a long day for me. I had networking events all day and was gone from 7am to 11pm or so. I came home exhausted and just wanted to sleep. I sat down at my computer and burned some time catching up on emails, facebook and twitter. I knew I needed to work out and at least get a short run in, but I kept putting it off and putting it off. I told myself I would do it in 5 minutes, then another 5 minutes, then another 5 minutes. Pretty soon ...
Experiences > Things
People who collect experiences are more interesting than people who collect things. I came across that quote on Twitter a while back. It's probably been a few months, and I have no idea who said it, but it's been churning in my mind ever since I saw it. As I thought about it, I started to realize why it stuck with me. I want to be interesting. Sure, on the very surface level I want be interesting so people think I'm interesting and like me, but more ...
Short & Sweet
I'm noticing I have a tendency to overwrite. I was working on a guest post and realized it when I inflated an 800 word story to a 1600 words. When i sat down to edit it, I realized all the crap I put into it that wasn't necessary or essential to the story. On the other end of the spectrum, I have this weird pressure that I need to come up with something amazing & insightful that's lengthy and impressive and somewhere between 800 & 1200 words. ...
